Streaching while giving his fellow sparring partner a good look to get an idea of what he was up against. The man was larger, older, and more expricenced. But the years slowed him down just a bit. So Drew had the advantage of youth, agility, and speed. Taking the old dull sparing sowrd that was offered to him he moved in the center and nodded to the other man.
Watching he brought his sword up to stop the first swing to his shoulder. Pushing back he countered with a gab and got his blade knocked aside. On and on it went trading blows. A few smacks were given by the older man just so Drew remebered who had more experince. Those would be bruises but oh well. After a while Drew lost the dull blade against his neck. A nod was given and they shook hands. Handing the balde over he streached mentally going over each place he was hit. In all of five hits he would only get a bruise on his cheek bone and upper arm. It was well enough.

It had been another boring shift for Max. Nothing interesting happened, leaving her to just stand there and wait. After a few hours of that she was relieved from duty to go do what ever she pleased. So rode Strider, her large black Friesian stallion, out to the training fields. There were many guards out there in the fields. Most of them Von Maur bred. Not her though. Slowing strider, she dismounted before tying him with the other horses. Many of the guards liked her, while others were still not sure. She had been on the force for around six months. It took her a while to convince them to let her be on it as she came from the neighboring kingdom. She never once shared her history from that place. It was just a thing of the past and she could only hope that it wouldn't sneak back up upon her.
Walking upon the fields. She watched as groups sparred, practiced their archery and dagger throwing. She wasn't an all round soldier that she wanted to be. She couldn't shoot an arrow for her life and daggers weren't completely her favorite. She was mostly based on the sword and her ability to dodge and use her surroundings to her advantage. That was just how she learned to fight and it had been with her ever since.
As she walked, she saw one fight that seemed somewhat interesting. Flicking her hair behind her shoulders she watched them, arms crossed as she guessed what moves they would play next to see if she was right. She didn't get all of them right but many she did. When the fight ended, she eyed one of the guards. She tried to place a name with the face.. Drew was his name she found. Some guards had been talking about him, she wasn't sure what their talk was about but that was how she knew his name.

Drew streached his arms behind his back and rolled his neck to crack it. He looked around him. He was Von Maur bred yes. But unlike the other soldiers he was sort of here out of little choice. His past life of theiving made it so he had to go about soldiering. But that was all well enough. He liked the life so far not as much fun as theiving but fun enough.
Feeling a gaze he looked around and eyes fell on the other. A slight croccked smile was given. He heard stories about that one. Moving over he ran a hand threw his hair. "Ello", he said with a nod looking over the slection of practice weapons on the wall near her. Picking a sword up and giving it a spin before putting it back to look at another.

Max figured that becoming a soldier, she could try and erase what she was involved with in her family. Now she was here, in a place away from them where they wouldn't come looking. When Drew turned to her to offer her a hello, she just watched him go over to look at the swords. She glanced around before wandering over to look at some of the swords as well. She had one of her own but she still liked to look and see what others were using. As she did she looked over at Drew she finally spoke up. "You been a soldier awhile?" It was a simple question, Max was just one of those start with the serious stuff first then work into the conversation stuff later.

Drew choose one that suited him. He had a sword but only used it when he had to he liked these for sparing and little play figths the other soldiers went threw time for time. He looked at her when she asked her question.
"A good four or five years", he replied. Eyes took her in really for the first time. Mentaly storing the information. He gripped the dulled practice sword and looked at her. "Wanna go", he asked brows rose.

Watching him go through the swords, she waited for him to find the correct one for himself. At the number he gave her she nodded. In time wise, she was a down right rookie in the guard business but she knew how to pack a punch with it all. The higher guards or the ones that have been a guard for a long while could pick up on some of those 'criminal moves' that she always tried to keep hidden and never use. It was only when she was in a tight situation would she pull one of them. She was raised in a difficult family so it was just normal for her to know how to kick butt.
Hearing the offer she looked over his sword and then at him. "Sure." gripping the handle of her own sword she slid it out of the sheath with ease. Once out, she let the well fitted blade flick in a circular motion with ease around her hand.

A nod was given when she accepted. He twisted the sword and moved away from the wall to more level open ground being sure not to be to close to others. Eyes on her steadily. Making sure he was balnaced and sizing her up.
Movinging forward with a simple swing to her shoulder wanting to test her relfexes. Mind clear and gaze steady. Drew was one to be sure of everything before making a move not rash. Unlike ohers. It was his past life of theiving that made him so. One wrong move could cost you that he knew well.
