What would be the chances of the two dominating kingdoms would be settled upon one another, only divided by one simple border. Both Citadel and Von Maur have a large military, growing population, and pride. It wasn't even a surprise when both kingdoms needed to expand and quickly. Starting with the smaller kingdoms, the two became tyrants to the smaller, undefended settlements until the surrounding lands were all claimed by one of the kingdoms. All that is left, is each other.
To the lower social class, the tension between the two kingdoms is barely noticeable. If not for the fact of the guards talking about it during they time off at the tavern, no one would even know about the building stress. Its as if the border is turning into a fault line between the two continents, its only a matter of time before it slips and all unfolds into mass chaos. Each high seated King has been hoping to avoid the inevitable truth of the need to expand as they have wealth and beginning a war would mean all that has a chance of falling out from under them. Both seem to be waiting for the other to react. Who will blink first?
